The Betsson Group has formally joined the French market, having secured authorization to provide sports wagering services.

Their entrance into France stems from a collaborative endeavor with a domestic associate. Betsson will employ Sportradar’s platform for its French sportsbook operations.

Nadir Ounissi, a stakeholder in Betsson France SA, conveyed his enthusiasm, remarking, “We’ve been targeting France for some time, and we are convinced we can make a significant contribution by introducing something innovative, both in terms of our offerings and our approach to player engagement. Our local collaborator has been indispensable throughout this endeavor, contributing extensive experience, dynamism, and ingenuity.” He continued, “We’ve assembled a first-rate team possessing a wealth of expertise, and we are certain that betsson.fr will flourish in this regulated environment. Our products and content are crafted with the recreational player in mind, and we eagerly anticipate sharing the Betsson experience with French patrons.”

It’s a profitable period to be penetrating the French market. During the initial half of 2023, the regulated gaming sector in France witnessed a 4% upswing, attaining a total gaming revenue (GGR) of €5.35 billion (US$5.63 billion). While FDJ and PMU presently hold a dominant position in the market, collectively representing 78% of the GGR, there’s undoubtedly space for emerging contenders like Betsson.

This expansion follows a prosperous phase for the Betsson Group. The company announced a 27% rise in revenue, reaching €2.368 billion in the second quarter of 2023. Earlier this year, the Betsson Group also reinforced its alliance with Pragmatic Play, underscoring its dedication to delivering premium gaming encounters.

Evolution, a gaming company, is partnering with Jalla Casino to provide Swedish users access to its live casino offerings. This development follows closely on the heels of Betsson Group’s significant action in Denmark, where they rebranded their Casino.dk platform to Betsson.dk in August 2023 to capitalize on the strength of their primary brand.
