The Indiana city of Terre Haute recently celebrated the debut of the Churchill Downs-owned Terre Haute Casino Resort. This $290 million leisure destination features a gaming area with slot machines, table games, and a sportsbook, in addition to a variety of dining choices. Although the connected hotel is slated to open in May of the following year, the casino is prepared to receive visitors.

This launch represents a major step for Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI), broadening their presence to a 14th state. The 400,000 square-foot complex is equipped with 1,000 slot machines, 36 table games, and a designated sports wagering section. When it comes to food and beverage, patrons can select from Four Corners Steakhouse, Rosewater Rooftop Bar, Rockwood Bar & Grill, a Soda Fountain, Crossroads Center Bar, and a High Limits Bar.

“The inauguration of Terre Haute Casino Resort is a substantial accomplishment in our dedication to the local area,” remarked Bill Carstanjen, Chief Executive Officer of CDI. “While today signifies a momentous event, this is merely the start of the favorable influence this endeavor will have on Vigo County and the state of Indiana.”

The enthusiasm doesn’t cease there. On May 15, 2024, visitors can experience the eagerly awaited 122-room upscale hotel, featuring a rooftop lounge and a coffee bar.

The Terre Haute Casino and Hotel complex generated a surge in employment opportunities, sustaining nearly 1,000 construction positions throughout its development phase. Upon commencing operations, the resort is projected to establish approximately 550 ongoing roles, encompassing both full-time and part-time capacities. Construction efforts were initiated in June 2022 under the leadership of the Williams Construction Firm.

In February 2024, Churchill Downs revealed a significant collaboration with SAP America, designating SAP as the official technology provider for not only Churchill Downs Racetrack but also the Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Oaks, and the Kentucky Derby Museum.

Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) also introduced plans for the “SI Club,” an exclusive new culinary destination debuting at Churchill Downs Racetrack. This initiative is part of an extensive $200 million modernization endeavor to prepare the racetrack for its 150th Kentucky Derby. The “SI Club,” (previously known as the 1895 Club) will provide patrons with an upscale dining atmosphere featuring exceptional views of the refurbished paddock and its runway.
