Queensland’s most recent restrictions have compelled Star Entertainment Group’s land-based casinos to close.
The most recent data released by the state government indicates that there were 4 new Covid-19 cases today (June 30), bringing the total number of positive cases in Queensland to 1696 since the beginning of the pandemic.
Initially, the Queensland government announced only partial limitations, restricting entry to casinos beginning June 29. However, after recording some new positive cases, the government shifted to a full lockdown.
The lockdown went into effect at 6 pm local time on June 29 and will last at least three days.
The government-imposed regulations mean that the Star Casino on the Gold Coast and the Treasury Casino and Hotel in Brisbane must remain closed throughout the lockdown.
Star Entertainment Group has confirmed that it will continue to compensate its employees during the latest lockdown.
In recent days, new restrictions implemented in several other states have also compelled land-based casinos to close.
New South Wales has prolonged its stay-at-home directive until the ninth of July, signifying that Crown Sydney and Star Sydney gaming establishments will remain shut.
Western Australia has also implemented limitations on Perth and Peel areas, resulting in the closure of casinos for a minimum of three days.
Victoria, on the other hand, is relaxing restrictions, permitting Crown Melbourne to function with certain limitations.
