Argentinas gaming oversight body is encouraging operators to utilize the new .bet.ar domain to foster trust in the region’s regulatory framework.
Beginning on July 21st, operators can register their .bet.ar domain. All registrations necessitate approval from the Argentine regulatory authority.
The Argentine Lottery Association (ALEA), which governs, manages, and oversees entertainment activities within the nation, asserts that employing the suffix will enable the public to differentiate between legitimate gambling operators and unauthorized gambling websites.
ALEA maintains that adopting .bet.ar will furnish the National Lottery with a precise instrument to combat illicit gambling by controlling and identifying platforms operating outside the domain zone.
ALEA also emphasizes that businesses within the broader digital environment, such as telecommunications and banking entities, will also be capable of recognizing authorized operators by deploying the suffix.
Moreover, several provinces have formally proclaimed the use of this domain zone in their authorized online gambling. The regulatory body in each Argentine province will be accountable for approving applications from applicants seeking to utilize the new domain.
In a statement, ALEA declared that the authorization in this area, for their nation’s state lotteries, will enable the standardization of online gambling platform records authorized by administrative and gambling regulatory entities. This will clearly identify operators and platforms authorized by each jurisdiction’s regulators and enhance communication strategies to identify illegal and unauthorized operators and websites.
This advancement arises from Resolution No. 42/2019 and Decree No. 68/2019 of federal legislation, and was endorsed by the National Law and Technology Secretariat through the National Internet Domain Registry.
Buenos Aires City was the first region in Argentina to formally establish online gambling licensing requirements, approving regulations for online gambling in February 2020. ALEA recently announced that most provinces are now contemplating or progressing towards regulating gambling, a trend that has emerged following the COVID-19 pandemic.
